Research Mentorship in Aging Webinar with Drs. Ploeg and Coker

Mark your calendar for Canadian Association on Gerontology (CAG) webinar Lessons Learned in Research Mentorship in Aging: Perspectives of a Mentor and Trainee, Thursday, April 25, 2019, 12:00-1:00 p.m., with Drs. Jenny Ploeg and Esther Coker.

In this webinar, Dr. Ploeg will describe her experiences in the Aging, Community and Health Research Unit (ACHRU) to provide research mentorship in aging. She will describe strategies used to develop capacity in the areas of evaluating health services for older adults and caregivers, patient and public engagement in research, and career development. Dr. Ploeg will highlight some of the work completed by ACHRU trainees.

Dr. Esther Coker will describe her experiences as a PhD student working with Dr. Ploeg and mentorship strategies that were most valuable to her success. She will touch on some of the work she completed in the area of nurses’ oral hygiene practices with hospitalized older adults.

Drs. Ploeg and Coker will conclude with lessons learned through their research mentorship experiences.

Dr. Ploeg was the 2018 recipient of the CAG Recognition Award for Excellence in Student Mentoring in Honour of Evelyn Shapiro.
