Congratulations! Hamilton Council on Aging’s 2015 Outstanding Volunteer Award Recipient Dr. Jenny Ploeg

Jenny was born in Canada to parents and grandparents who immigrated to Canada from Holland after World War II.

Volunteering and assisting those at risk has been a tradition in Jenny’s family. Her grandparents, who lived through World War II, have been a great inspiration and role models to Jenny. During the war, they protected many individuals and families who were at risk while exposing their family to the same risks. Jenny’s two moms have been a source of inspiration to her.

As a committee member, Jenny played an important role in the development of “Hamilton: A City for ALL Ages”, and “Three Years On” reports, reports that later on were the foundation for the development of Hamilton’s Plan for an Age-Friendly City. Jenny has also contributed to the work of the Hamilton Committee Against the Abuse of Older Persons.
