ACHRU Co-Scientific Director is Part of Team Researching Best Ways for Public Health and LHINs to Work Together

Dr. Ruta Valaitis has been invited to be the Phase 1 Academic co-lead on the ‘Public Health Units and Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs) working together for population health’ study. Thie collaborative research project is being led by public heath units and funded and supported by Public Health Ontario. The study team will explore the reorientation of Ontario’s health system from a biomedical model focused on the individual to one that focuses on populations and the social determinants of health. This research will inform strategies for Public Health and LHINs to effectively work together to plan programs and services to best meet the unique needs of populations within each community.
